Hong Yip is committed in promoting energy conservation. Recently we were awarded two important prizes in the “Green Building Award 2021”. While Valais won the Grand Award in “Existing Buildings Category: Facilities management”, Port 33 won the Merit Award in “Existing Buildings Category: Facilities management”, showing our environmental protection work has been highly recognized by the industry.

The “Green Building Award 2021” was jointly organized by the Hong Kong Green Building Council (HKGBC) and the Professional Green Building Council (PGBC), with the goal to recognize enterprises that create innovative designs suitable for living and promote green buildings. Judges commented that the management team of Valais has succeed in adding various sustainable facilities to the residential project design, including installing solar panels, adding solar energy equipment, rainwater harvesting systems and recycling furnishing materials. In order to bring a different green lifestyle experience to residents, the management team also regularly hold different educational activities on sustainability and launched a number of reward programs to promote recycling.

Furthermore, Valais has a high greenery coverage, with more than 80% of the total area of the housing estate. The management team has fully utilized the greenery area for self-cultivation on the rooftop of the clubhouse, using fertilizers made from recycled food waste. The harvest will be supplied to the clubhouse restaurant or to be enjoyed by residents, demonstrating Hong Yip’s active integration of green elements into its daily management.

Another commercial project, Port 33, uses a unique structural design. Through the characteristic "lighting well" at the core of the building, natural light is refracted from the roof to different floors; at the same time, the platform, roof and garden provide distinctive green landscapes. In addition, the management team installed sensors in the water pipes, which cooperates with the flow control platform for real-time monitoring. In the event of water leakage, a prompt will be issued immediately, saving water and reducing the risk of flooding in the building.
