The Caring Company Award 2002/03

Responsible corporate citizenship is the hallmark of business leadership. Businesses not only provide jobs and returns to shareholders, but also contribute directly to the community. In addition to philanthropic giving, there is an enormous potential for corporations to leverage their contribution to social services. For these corporations, community programmes are also important in boosting staff morale, and in improving motivation and productivity.

Organized by the Hong Kong Council of Social Service for the first time in 2002, the Caring Company Scheme aims at “Building a caring community spirit through cultivating corporate citizenship and strategic partnership between the business and social service sector”.

Hong Yip is a staunch supporter in charity and voluntary social services and by joining hands with the Government and social service bodies, the issues concerning cleaning, environmental protection, youth employment and employees retraining, etc., are relieved. Hong Yip is always keen in caring the deprived sector and those families in need in creating more job opportunities as well as arranging flexible work schedules to suit their needs.

Hong Yip has satisfied the adjudication panel for having fulfilled the requirements of being a Caring Company. The Award was presented by the Honourable Donald TSANG Yam-kuen, Chief Secretary for Administration, on 5 December, 2002.
