With over 7,700 Solar Panels Installation Hong Yip Achieved Zero-Tariff by “Ultra-Low Emission” Green Property

Hong Yip Service Company Limited (“Hong Yip”) launched the “Solar PV Panel Energy Saving Scheme” to promote long-term sustainable development. More than 7,700 solar panels, together with the 1,900 panels installed earlier, will be installed at the rooftop of over 14 managed buildings. The installation is expected to be completed by mid of 2022. Approximately 14.4 million MJ of renewable energy will be generated annually, equivalent to the annual consumption of 1,000 households in Hong Kong, which also equals to the amount of carbon dioxide removed by 130,000 trees each year, around 2,840 tonnes of emissions.

Currently, a total of 9 managed properties – Valais Phrase 1 and Phrase 2, Sun Hung Kai Centre, Brill Plaza, Grand City Plaza, Scenery Court, Europa Garden, Hoi Luen Industrial Centre and Mai Luen Industrial Building, covering residential, commercial and industrial buildings, are equipped with solar panels. Among these, Brill Plaza, located at To Kwa Wan, has participated in CLP’s “Renewable Energy Feed-in Tariff” (“FiT”) scheme since last year and achieved zero tariff for months; thus became one of the largest scale of “ultra-low emission” industrial and commercial buildings in the district under the scheme, allowing Brill Plaza to invest more resources in environmental protection and create sustainable green community with customers.

Mr. Alkin Kwong, Vice Chairman and Chief Executive of Hong Yip, said, “With increasing concerns in ESG topics, Hong Yip has always kept in line with SHKP’s sustainability mission and implemented energy saving applications in daily property management work. Our persistence in promoting environmental protection and sustainability with the use of technology earns us various environmental awards. Hong Yip will continue exploring the feasibility of solar energy application, building a greener community and a more sustainable living environment for customers.”
